"We'll get along fine as long as you don't come between me and my coffee." |
My washing machine died on Boxing Day - the same day the guests departed, leaving a house full of dirty sheets and towels.
Fortunately, a good friend who lives nearby is in Germany for the holidays, and I’m currently working from home - her home - washing up the things that we’ll need in the short term. There is some excellent wine in it for her, as well as a contribution to her utility bill.
As annoying as this hiccup is, it could be worse. Christmas is not a great time to be forced into replacing a major appliance, but there are good sales right now, so that evens out.
Sure, there’s a crazy amount of laundry. But there’s a place nearby to catch up on it all. So that’s good.
And we really can’t complain about the dead washing machine. It was here when we bought the house, and a little investigating revealed that said washer was made in 1976. It had to go sometime. And although we don’t expect that kind of longevity in our next machine, a new one will probably be more energy efficient.
So yeah, it all does even out in the end.
